When I further my studies last time in Islamic Economics, I had to write an academic paper.
It’s like a thesis.
The paper was due in the final semester. However, in the final semester, there were also classes.
Me being me, I can’t do 2 things in 1 time. (Or isn’t that the case for everyone?)
So, while other friends started writing their paper in the middle of semester, I started mine after the classes were done.
That means, I had 2-3 months left to start writing and finish up my paper.
What happened was that, while writing my paper, I got sick. I had a fever for 5 days. I remember going to the kitchen, but I couldn’t finish up my step. I lay down on the floor before I reached the kitchen.
There was I, lying stealthily on the floor, my views became dark….
How could I finish up my paper before the semester ends?
I went to the doctor, and she said, there’s nothing wrong with me. Le mom came all the way from Kuantan to take care of me. So le mom asked me to visit her friend in Darusyyifa.
Long story short, there was something…
So I resorted to, reading al-Baqarah every morning. Sometimes I finished it in 1 reading, sometimes I divided it into 2, sometimes I divided it into 3 [106:202:286], sometimes whatever I can fit into my schedule.
Months later, I compiled my experiences into an eBook: The Epic Focus Guide for Thesis Writer. I shared how I managed to finish up my writing in less than 3 months, while my other friends decided to extend semester.
When I looked back, there’s something I didn’t share in that eBook:
(Thus reminds me that, sometimes, the best ‘secret’ is kept secret. (talk about that someday, maybe, as I said, it’s a secret).)
It was reading al-Baqarah that adds blessings in time. I can sense, masa rasa panjang bila baca al-Baqarah pagi-pagi.
p.s: Le mom came and stayed with me while I was sick. There were a couple of times, when I was reading al-Baqarah, when I reached the ayah : 2:185 yuridullahu bikumul yusra (Allâh intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you), le mom came into the room.
That was the time I realized, the fact I was sick, and then mom came - that was all meant to help me to speed up in writing my paper. Le mom cooked (that means, I don’t have to eat outside.)
I remember staying in the library working on my paper. During lunch, I ate chicken chop at the uni’s cafe,, and there was a lot of barbeque sauce. After lunch, I realized that my writing speed decreased.
It made me understand that food with MSG really slows down our brain.
There’s a section on that eBook where I talked about eating real food.
